How do you see yourself? The image you hold in your mind is the image you live up to. Thats why many poor people who win the lottery go back to being poor again. In their minds, all they see is themselves as poor people, plus they have not developed the financial skills to handle large amounts of money. I would love to win the lottery as I know I would not squander it. If you see yourself as a rich person, and practice the art of seeking money slowly, steadily and ethically, one day your dreams will become true.
I see myself as an extremely rich, but frugal person, in line with the type of millionaire described in the book The Millionaire Next Door. I love saving money and buying goods cheaply using Internet comparison sites and E bay, and hunting down good deals. I live a simple life and I do not believe I need to spend lots of money on expensive consumer goods in order to be happy. I am happy because I can read whatever books I want, I have great friends, I can go wherever I want to go, I have enough money already to feel secure, I can plan and act on whatever new achievement I want in life, and I can be myself.
I am not a millionaire yet, but I am on that route. I have 2 multi-millionaire friends. One runs a successful business and has a property portfolio, the other has a massive property portfolio with the mortgages all paid off, and is the wealthier of the two. They both work hard and generally don't waste money, yet one is 10 years younger than the other and has twice as much money. Why? Well the older, less wealthy millionaire is a bit more flashy and into consumer goods. He bought his car for 50k, yet the younger millionaire drives a battered white van because he is less concerned with showing off his wealth. He focuses on building his wealth, so he has more money. Both of them started off poor, and neither went to college or university. Both told me that they decided a long time ago that they would seek money and become millionaires, and now, they are. They saw themselves as future millionaires in their mind, and it became reality.
How you see yourself in your mind is how you will end up. Donald Trump sees himself as a billionaire, and when he lost all his money, against the odds he made it all back and even more than before. If you see yourself as a loser or unworthy of large amounts of money, you will find a way to sabotage all of your efforts. How do you develop a wealthy belief? Imagine yourself as rich. Then start saving money, use a budget and automatically direct debit money into your savings account and never touch it. In a year or two when you see that you have accumulated money, you will see that you can do even more as you will also have bank interest working for you.
The Power of Self Image can enable you to rise from the most unimaginable disadvantages. Arnold Schwarzenegger saw himself as a Champion bodybuilder, then a movie star, then a politician. He achieved all his goals. Footballer Vinnie Jones never went to acting school, yet he is forging a successful career in hollywood as he saw himself as an actor. Barack Obama saw himself as the future president of the America and triumphed over the most unimaginable odds. Chris Gardner was a homeless man but saw himself as a future millionaire and achieved his goal as well as writing his autobiography and having it turned into a major hollywood film (The Pursuit of Happyness).
The human brain is the most important key to becoming rich. It is the seed from which your wealth grows, and saving and investing money steadily is the final ingredient needed to grow your money tree. No matter what happens to me, I will always believe that I am rich. I am that man who always has money, I am always increasing my wealth, not just in my mind, but also in reality. I have seen poverty and I do not like it one little bit, so I will ensure I stay wealthy. When I suffer financial setbacks, as happens to many rich people like Donald Trump, I just see it as a temporary hurdle. I believe that nothing in the universe can stop me from becoming rich, and I will always see myself as a very rich man. I will seek money, security, and profit, because that is what rich people do. I am starting to find excess wealth in my life because I have sought money in my mind first, and now I seek it in reality.
