A brand new bag and a brand New Year

Primark are currently selling a handbag for £6. In this time of the credit crunch, the bag is a best seller. At this time, women are realising that they do not have to spend thousands of pounds on a handbag. Any handbag is just a limited amount of cloth and metal, and so it is good that people are re-examining their purchases before making them, and going for cheaper options.
When economic prosperity returns, no doubt people will return to their old excessive spending habits, but for a few people, including myself, the lesson of always buying at a low price will remain firmly embedded in the mind.

Here are my personal financial New Years Resolutions for 2009:

  • Not to buy any books this year and do all financial and success research, via computer instead.
  • To buy any and all food from supermarkets only (as they tend to be better value).
  • To stick rigidly to my budgets.
  • To always research for the cheapest, best, item before buying it.

I believe that 2009 will be a fantastic year for me, as I can bring forward all of my accumulated experience of money seeking, and use it to survive and thrive. Of course there will be setbacks, but I will handle them all, and keep mastering the art of personal finance. These times of economic turmoil are not armageddon so things could be a lot worse! I am grateful for the additional financial lessons these times are teaching me.

This could be your best financial year ever. Save your money, spend little and infrequently, and enjoy your life. Happy new year.
