Apparently, American actor Mel Gibson is worth $640 million. This would make him one of the richest actors ever. Lets examine why.

Mel Gibson made the really big money not from acting, but from directing: Braveheart, The Passion of Christ, and Apocalypto. He didn't even act in all of those films. As the director you get a bigger cut of money. The Passion of Christ is the 8th highest grossing film in history, making well over half a billion dollars. Mel Gibson directed, wrote, and funded it himself. Therefore, virtually all of the money went to him.
Mel Gibson is originally an actor, and at first that was all he wanted to do with his life. He was well paid as an actor, but he looked at the even higher salaries earned by the directors and decided to become one himself. He changed, by trying out a new path in life. He is proof that nobody is limited in their capabilities. If Mel Gibson can go from an actor, to a director, producer, and writer, then anybody can change.
If you want to be rich, you have to take a rich path. You have to earn a higher salary, save more, invest more, run your own business, etc. You have to take your life in your own hands, and walk down a completely different path than the one which leads to poverty and insecurity.
