Determination is man's ability to gain what he wants in life through desire, planning, and hard work. If you are prepared to put in the time and effort, you can have, do, and be anything you want. Anything is possible. (with a few exceptions). Determination took mankind to the moon, it has created wealth, it has rejuvenated continents.
In the book "Think and Grow Rich", (one of the first ever wealth creation books), determination is seen as the master skill to cultivate in order to attain riches.
When I think of determination now, I am reminded of a story I read in the paper about an American man who wanted an expensive Lamborghini super car. He couldn't afford one, but instead of giving up, he spent 10 years building a working Lamborghini replica in his basement. Now, he has his own Lamborghini. That's what I call determination.
I remember a quote which goes "a determined soul with only a rusty spanner, will achieve more than a layabout will with all the tools in the machine shop".
Yes, there is luck in life, both good and bad, but like being out at sea, sometimes the weather is good, sometimes bad. You, as the captain of your ship have to make sure that you have a clearly determined path which you are always aiming for, then no matter how much the world pulls you from side to side, you will eventually reach your destination, however long it takes.
Mankind can achieve incredible, almost impossible things when he puts his or her full effort into it. Wealth is something which must be strived for. If you are determined, and keep going, the passage of time will eventually lead you to riches.
