Mr Piper moving to Kent

Mr Piper, my friend and mentor who is also a multi-millionaire is leaving my area in South London and moving to Kent. He owns a few houses, flats and shops outright, with an approximate value of 3 million. He does all of the maintenance work himself. He is selling his house of residence to take a step back from his work, as he lives close by to his investments and they were consuming the majority of his time.

He decided to sell his house now, even though the housing market is bad, as he figured that even though he will sell for far cheaper than he would have done 2 years ago at the height of the property market, the house he wants to buy will also be much cheaper. Interestingly enough, he purchased another investment flat last year while prices were high, proving that even though he is a property millionaire, he cannot predict the market at all.

Mr Piper always told me the story of how he found a cupboard on the street one day with a note that anyone could take it, so he came back in his van and took it. He said to me "anyone could have taken that cupboard, but I was the one who took action, that's what being successful is all about". That was always his favorite story and piece of advice for me. Mr Piper will always be an example to me of seizing opportunities, thinking for yourself, making your own decisions, and acting immediately.
