Celebrations

This has been a week of celebration for me. I finally achieved a financial goal I had set for myself years ago. I'm not a millionaire, but I'm definetely not poor. It's amazing looking at how much money I now have in the bank, and realizing that it is the accumulation of many years of learning and sacrifice. I have money, and I also have the knowledge of how I got that money. I feel I have reached a new level spirtually, because I now know for sure that I can set a long term goal and stick to it. I have a new level of confidence and self-belief concerning money.

Looking back on what I've learned from years of money seeking, I realise that the slow and steady path ascribed to The Richest Man in Babylon, is the way to wealth. There is definitely some luck involved, but these lucky opportunities come to the man with money. I have had so many get rich quick schemes pitched to me over the years, so now I can usually see them coming, and I keep my guard well up.

I am currently convinced that wealth seminars are a waste of time. I remember the business guru Jim Rohn saying in an audiotape, to beware of people who say they have new fundamentals concerning wealth creation. Reading the book Secrets of The Millionaire Mind by T.Harv Eker, it becomes clear that the book is just a pitch for his never-ending seminars. This is an example of how ridiculous the whole thing is. If you are poor, what kind of advice is "give me all of your money for my seminars, then you will become rich". I henceforth swear I will never go to another wealth seminar, or believe in one, and I don't care who is pitching it. Which billionaire got rich by going to seminars? Not even one.

Many people try to become rich and fail. What if the ones who succeed are merely lucky, like lottery winners? The example of a lottery winner shows that just because someone has money, it doesn't mean that he/she knows how to get more, so always be very careful about who you follow. By looking at my own results so far, I can see that following the strategies in the books I have recommended in my blog, have merely put the odds of gaining wealth, in my favour.

I am currently reading The Black Swan by N.Taleb, and The New Paradigm by George Soros. I am borrowing both of these books from the library. So far they talk about how anything can happen in life, and no plan can be completely relied upon. They talk about facts, and how the human mind can actually mess up your chances of success. Maybe I will learn something from these books, maybe I will learn nothing, but at least they are free.

As I was going through my old papers I found a copy of the book "Playing to Win "by Karren Brady (The lady doing the recent interviews in the TV show The Apprentice UK). I noticed I had highlighted the following sentence which she wrote: "I have found that in the end, hard work resolves everything I have ever been asked to do".

T0day, I am celebrating how far I have come in my money seeking. From now on, I am making my own rules, and I have earned the right to do so.
