An article in The Sun newspaper highlighted the types of people who are being made redundant and need to find any work they can just to survive. One was a solicitor, who now earns 12k per year working at Tesco. He said "I am much happier now". Pull the other one mate. The article shows that anyone can be made redundant, so there are no secure jobs. I regularly meet people who have recently been made redundant, and I am convinced it is currently a massive problem which is escalating.
The press is talking of the recession coming to an end. That is ridiculous, it's only just got started and history shows recessions usually last around 10 years. The housing market is NOT picking up, as some of the press are claiming. This is because the banks are NOT lending money like they used to. Homeowners are taking their houses OFF the market because they do not want to sell for less money than they originally expected. It will take YEARS, for most of them to accept the harsh reality. The best chance of affordable homes at the moment seems to be the auction house, and government housing. This recession, gone in 60 seconds? Not a chance. Tighten your belts and prepare for a bumpy road ahead, for the next few years.
